Everyone needs a little Fairy!

Fairy is a very special piggy. She is all white and oh so dainty! She is also very loving and likes nothing more than to cuddle up for a snooze in your lap, dreaming away for hours on end.

She loves being with her new sisters too. Matilda and Marigold have gone to great lengths to make sure Fairy knows what is what when they go play in their very own Playhouse - where the food is, who sleeps where and the games the piggies like to play. Maybe Fairy wasn’t listening, she always seemed to be in the wrong place, she missed the tastiest food and always ended up snoozing on the un comfiest bed! Mati and Marigold love her now but it took a little while. For some strange reason Fairy kept bumping into them both, and while Marigold didn’t mind this odd piggy behaviour too much (possibly because of her extra thick padding she didn’t notice), it really upset Matilda. It took a couple of wheeks for Mati to understand.

Now, the reason is because Fairy is blind AND deaf, she is what is known in the Guinea Pig world as a ‘Lethal’ Guinea Pig, you can read all about this condition here and in this Forum. Fairy has a genetic condition due to certain genes present in some breeds of Guinea Pigs. ‘Lethals’ often have short, difficult lives and are a lesson to us all that we should never breed from our Guineas unless we fully understand what we are doing. We will make sure Fairy has the best life possible, with lots of love and cuddles, and good healthcare.

As you can see, she is a happy little piggy. She loves being on the lawn on sunny days, showing Mati and Marigold the route to the best bit of grass. She loves sweetcorn, carrots, broccoli and lettuce and a bowl of cereals too. And wherever she goes she sprinkles a little magic Fairy-Dust!
