Keen devotees of Guinea Pigs will know that an individual Piggies character takes a little while to develop. A number of clearly identifiable stages have to be successfully negotiated before a fully rounded Piggy Individual emerges. Not so with Mary! From day one she exhibited confidence and determination of truly gargantuan proportions, not to mention a personality and appetite to match! Oblivious to the carefully constructed and scrupulously maintained Manufactory hierarchy, she could see no good reason why she shouldn’t eat what she wanted, where she wanted when she wanted! This caused Mavis more than a little consternation and the Texels much amusement. However, Mary has settled into her role as Chief Explorer and can often be seen leading a procession of Piggies into yet another unfamiliar situation. She has recently been credited with discovering the secret area behind the dining room table, the parking place of the Manufactory Dumper Truck, and organising tyre nibbling excursions!.
Being predominantly black faced, Mary is able to maintain something of an enigmatic expression. But if you look very closely you will see she always has the very brightest of twinkles in her eye!
Mary has established a firm friendship with Mabelina. The two of them have become inseparable and can often be seen sniggering behind Mavis’ back, and exchanging beauty tips. It can be no coincidence that Mary is developing an exceptionally fuzzy mane of fur around her head!

Left - When Mary was very new and little, she had to climb up on three Wheaty Warmers to whisper in Mabel’s ear! At least we think it was Mabel’s ear - it is often hard to tell with a Texel!

Right - Mary often casts off in her boat in search of new worlds and exotic salads. So far she has only managed to find a Soap Dish and the Loofah!
