It is really difficult to fully explain the tremendous impact Mavis has had on the Manufactory. When she first arrived there was something of an age gap! She was very quiet and well behaved under the guiding eye of Auntie Mildred, but then became something of a terrible teenager, given to bouts of tantrums and sulks. But she soon settled down, developing a strong, endearing and exceptionally singular character. Apart from her obvious fondness for food she absolutely loves posing for photos! As soon as the camera appears she poses, looking into the camera lens and exhibiting all the characteristics of a Super Model. This obvious love of photography has inspired immense amounts of Piggy related creativity and has lead to increasingly extraordinary photo shoots. As well as the Manufactory Logo, she appears on numerous products and has a regular Fan Club of admirers from around the globe. Her face is very expressive, and leaves you in absolutely no doubt as to how she is feeling! It must be something to do with the eyebrows! As new members of the Manufactory have been recruited they have inherited much of Mavis’ characteristics, particularly her inordinate fondness for food and photography. Wilma and Mabel play superbly fluffy supporting roles.

This small selection of photographs show just what a photogenic piggy Mavis really is! She is very fond of modeling the latest fashions, hats are a speciality which not every piggy can carry off! A keen gardener, Mavis likes to keep on top of the salad production, that way no other greedy little piggies can get their nose in! A virtuoso in the field of classical music, Mavis has some Operatic favourites too - ‘Piggy and Bess’, ‘Pig Giovanni’, ‘Madam PigsCanFly’, ‘Pigandot’ and that lovely aria by Pigcini, ‘Nessum Porgy’. Finally, after a hard day in the salad patch, or in this case . . the ‘morning after’, Mavis likes nothing better than to recline on a pile of best Wheaty Warmers and dream of salad days to come!
